Reiki, what is it?
Reiki is an institution with its own philosophy and therapeutic technique, not linked to any religion.
This technique uses 4 symbols, with their unique intentions, which are added to the Prana energy absorbed by the therapist, opening up the recipient's field.
Through an initiation process, the Reiki practitioner is able to capture this high-quality universal energy and transmit it to others through the application of Reiki.
This application takes place at points corresponding to the meridians of the human body, increasing the vitality of the individual receiving Reiki.
Traditional Reiki focuses mainly on helping the sick and self-help. Sanathana Sai Unified Reiki ® is different.
Traditional Reiki & Sanathana Sai Unified Reiki
As we saw above, traditional Reiki has a well-defined purpose aimed at helping other beings. The main purpose of Sanathana Sai Unified Reiki ® is self-help, and its process is focused on personal growth and self-transformation. The traditional format has undergone changes since its creation until 2019 when Grand Master Phyllis Furumoto passed away leaving the name of her successor, Paul D. Mitchell (the current Grand Master). From 2019 onwards, Traditional Reiki was allowed to be reconstituted to the original format which encompasses only two stages (in the Reiki process). ↠ The first stage is initiation into the Reiki technique, which enables the student practitioner to assist people. ↠ The second stage is the Reiki Master's Degree for training future teachers. Today, we call the combination of these two stages of the Reiki process Unification. This unified format was inspired by its founder Dr. Usui. The rules prior to 2019, brought by Hawayo Takata, the master who brought Reiki to the West, separated Reiki into several stages of training: Reiki study levels I, II and III A. However, in Japan, Dr. Usui did not use this format. Isabel Otto, who began her journey in Traditional Reiki in 1990 and obtained her first master's degree in 1997, received guidance in 2023 to reformulate and enhance Traditional Reiki, taking inspiration from Dr. Usui's line, the Unified line. Thus, Sanathana Sai® Unified Reiki was born.
